Byzantine Icons >
Our Byzantine Icons are painted or "written" with the egg-tempera
technique; it is an old traditional way to "study the Bible with colors."
Because of the strict rules that the iconographer should follow trying
to express the mystery of God and man, the Byzantine Icons have an
universal quality.
"God became Man so that men might become gods" is the main
sentence that the Fathers of the Church had used to meditate,
speak, and live the Plan of Salvation.
Following the teaching of the Fathers of the Church, the Icon reveals
the "deification" of the mankind and of the world; it reminds people,
with its "mystical language", that they are created in the image and
likeness of God, showing them their original dignity and destiny.
